We use it heavily in code for speed and works great for us.
What do you mean by SP? I am working in VFP 6 SP5, without any problems. Are you sure that the index you are seeking on is not in the table? It could be the = vs. == bitting you.
'abc' = '' is .T.
'abc' == '' is .F.
