We Dutch are 'nuchter'. I know of no appropriate translation into English, but it means that we don't really think positive about those who brag. And we call it bragging very quick, even if it really is only the showing of pride. There is a Dutch saying that is translated in my English dictionary as: Just be your normal idiotic self. Hmm, odd translation, by the way.
