>>Well you should see it here (in northern North America (U.S. and Canada). It is now chri$tma$ (note the small c).

>Yeah, and I guess that many of the "traditions" we have here, were imported from the U.S. and Europe.

>Especially ridiculous I find the people dressed as Santa Klaus, in front of the stores: big thick robes - in the Coca-Cola colours, of course - in the hottest time of the year. Please note that south of the Equator, we have Summer, when you have Winter in the North.
Hilmar;
My wife Katy (Enriqueta) is from Peru. We joke about Christmas here and in South America.
I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas. Must be high in the Andes. We live in Silicon Valley near San Jose. If it snowed here you would hear about it! :) One Christmas it was 72 degrees F (23 C) throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as Los Angeles and San Diego. The rest of the nation can keep its snow and White Christmas.
Peru is noted for some very good surfing areas. Did you know that Santa Claus rides a surf board into the shore of Peru to deliver toys to all the boys and girls who have been good? :)
