That cashback is something I can't really understand. You're not just buying a car, you're giving your dealer (or car manufacturer, whoever) an interest-free loan! And you're doing that at the time you're really tight for money - you're buying an expensive car, and you're probably taking a loan, so you're actually paying interest on the money you then loan for free.
The only way I can get some sense into this is that the amount in question is tax-deductible somehow, and the total reduction in taxes is above the interest you pay... but then, the tax return may be a year later, and during that year, you've paid interest... my serious doubts about that being profitable for the customer.
