>You got it - that's definitely the issue. PARTY is character and DATA is a Memo. About 2 years ago, DATA was changed from a character field to a memo field. In all versions prior to 9.0 release (including 9.0 Beta), an index of Party+Data can be created at any time and did not crash. As soon as you do anything to that table in 9.0 release it crashes.

This makes the expression an improper index expression, the size of the result can not be predicted. And it didn't work in previous versions, that was an illusion.
