Gave this a try, but was still experiencing some weirdness in the display of the grid, though it wasn't turning grey this time.

After some more mucking around, it looks like that all I really needed to do was to requery the view and I think that took care of things. At least it works in my IDE - we'll see what QA has to say about it. :)
