I live relatively far south in Norway, 100km (65 miles) south of Oslo, but I can not tell you right now exactly how many hours of daylight we have. I guess the sun rises at about 9AM, and sets at 3PM, give or take an hour.

By the way, now it's 11°C, 52°F! Luckily I have AC in my car. <vbg>

It's rather poignant your mentioning the beach as I assumed that the reason why so many Swedes died in the tsunami was because up there they're more likely to seek warmer climes, to escape (what I assumed to be) the near permanent darkness.
