>>Microsoft is and does support us. Look at DevCon...

Is this debate still going on? I must admit that I haven't kept up with foxpro since moving on to Oracle a year and a half ago. But this debate had raged ever since MSFT bought foxpro. MSFT will do no more for foxpro than it already has. That is, continue to make a fine product, and continue to merely market it to the faithful. And it will continue to move FP's technology to it's other products (and vice versa).

If you're in business for the money, and not the passion for a product, then you'll move on to SQL Server, Oracle or some other SQL database. For front end you'll use VB, PowerBuiler, Oracle tools or Web tools.

Foxpro is a legacy product, most useful for companies with previous committment or for Vertical market apps (where it really doesn't matter what the technology behing the product is).

As a foxpro developer I was at the upper levels in terms of salary. In a year and a half I have increased my pay by _50%_, and there's more room to grow.

I miss some things about foxpro for sure. Primarily I miss having 10 years worth of experience with a product and knowing it inside and out. But really, I'm in business to get paid, and foxpro just doesn't pay like it used to. As Danny Devito said "The surest way to grow broke is to grab an increasing share of a declining market..." and that's the foxpro market for sure.
