Does anybody know what the long term plans for MSDE are?

Now that SQL Server Express is on the scene will MS continue to support and update MSDE?

We have a situation where many of our customers have 9x base Operating system which mean they cannot use Sql Server Express.

We wanted to move to MSDE in order to provide a data store for these customer, however we are wary that Express has "replaced" MSDE and we could be working with an obsolute product.

Anybody got any ideas what the plans are for MSDE?
