Some parts do. Other passages do the exact opposite. In fact, all-in-all it is one of the most violent books there are.

Unfotunately Jim is correct. The ultimate goal of Christianity (from a fundamentalist point of view) is exactly as Jim said. That what is expected at "Rapture" time (Apocalypse et al).

Not to say that fundametalist Muslims or others don't have a similar agenda.
