Concerning:

I've thought some about that myself. I got a lot of American Express card pop-ups when I had my problems. I think it might be that they don't know in some cases. Perhaps Amer Exp agreed to a stupid contract that they never intended working the way it did. Something like a penny or even less for every pop-up ad that is determined (by the company they made the contract with's adware) to be the kind of customer they want to hit.

Then Gator, or whoever, doesn't care if Amer Exp get's business or not, they just keep hitting the same people and sending Amer Exp a bill. However, I still don't plan on getting an Amer Exp card.
