And yes, I work had a being charming, but charming is something a few on this site don't understand.
Must be a minimum wage job in your neck of the woods:)

My post was directed to the few whiners and complainers here about the lack of marketing

"The fox be the finder, the stink lies behind her" Aesop

and why we can't make vfp open source. LOL, what a ridiculous notion.
Agreed - Yet, still, you insist on peppering your opinions with deragatories. We need to get past the name calling. Better to stick to the issues and refrain from hyperbole. Tell us what you like about NET (but don't use the "MS's direction" or "dead-language" gambit).

Take a small development issue (like the "margin" property in a VFP control) and explain why that feature is more appealing (or offers more value) with NET than does a corresponding feature in VFP.

Microsoft is not what she used to be. The reason PCs and MS DOS were so popular is that they freed the user from the main frame conglomerate. Those innovations gave the user a sense of independence. What MS seems to be doing is an attempt revive the main frame conglomerate - and reduce our PCs and the applications we write to an appliance. Look at NET Passport - a "conglomerating" attempt - now dead. The internet will never be as secure as a desktop on an LAN - and that is the lion share of the market. After years of being slaves to the mainframe, and enjoying the freedom of a PC - it is beyond my comprehension how a smart outfit, like MS, would try to turn back the clock or belive the user no longer desires independence! MS stock has given back all it's splits. IE is being dumped. Linux is gaining ground and the CHines are now in the OS business. MS has "lost" the trust of the market. And with IE basically giving away the desktop - why should a consumer feel any different about NET?

I am wondering what kind of deals the government made with MS when the lawsuit was dropped. IF MS been split up - we would probablybe doing VFP Linus right now!
