>>> Oh come on that's not fair at all... Should we look to see how many studies the University of Illinois has done on corn? I'm sure there is an ethanol study or two that has been done... or how about a soybean study? *bg* <<

>Absolutely! I wasn't picking on Texas universities, it just happened that this study came from a Texas university. (Assuming it exists; have you heard of Texas Womans University?)

>The corn lobby shows up most prominently here in the form of high gasoline prices. They actually managed to get it passed into law that a certain percentage of every gallon of gas sold in Illinois has to be ethanol. This is a PITA for the oil companies and they sock it to us good. Gas is still over $2.00 a gallon here and expected to go higher. Pretty soon it'll be like living in Europe, minus the history and scenery.

Mike;

Around 1982 a GM Vice President was using and promoting ethanol. He had a limousine and personal driver and was being interviewed by a national television news group. The question was posed, “Are there any problems using ethanol”? Answer: Why there is a minor problem, as the ethanol will cause the engine to die”!

That could really be an interesting problem – to have the car in front of you to suddenly die or even your own vehicle stop dead. The VP did not really have a problem you see. He had a personal road to the plant where he worked and no one else was allowed to use it!

As for California, we have state laws that dictate gasoline content and we are the only state that can supply our needs. They are closing refineries out here and things will get worse.
