I give you the advice NOT to use a general field for pictures, it sounded as a good idea many years ago, but in practise it's a bad idea with only downsides. Use seperate pictures, and store the file name, with or without path, in a character field.

The field type is set to general. therefore everytime I run my program it will create a cursor with the path to the picture and then run the report. the problem I have is that I use the APPEND GENERAL command to create the field but I do not want to hardcode the path to the picture as this can change.
