Although I didn't experiment with this yet, a view can also help you access a remote database (like Oracle, for example). In this case, it is called a "remote view". The basic concepts are very similar.
In every case, you open the view as if it were a table.
(In VFP 8 and later though, an approach often recommended is the CursorAdapter, since it gives you more flexibility.)
For accessing VFP tables, all you need are the tables themselves and the local views.
