Dorris, when rape or death happens here, granted, it is no less tragic. However, the fact that it happens and is perpetrated by the STATE in Iran is the issue, not the tragedy itself. I think Terry showed tremendous empathy and disgust with the Iranian regime. While crimes against women occur here in the U.S., even violent ones, it cannot be compared with women's lives in Iran.

Dead's dead no matter how it comes and the only difference here is that this 16 year old had no choice.

>And I've never said it wasn't harsh. It is.

>And before people start jumping again, yes..I've also known women who have been raped, lived to tell about it, survived the trial and got on with their lives.

>>>And I'll be happy when all the world comes to that opinion. Rape is rape, no matter what gender the 'rapee' is, and it is *not* a sexual crime.
>>
>>But the punishment for being raped seems a bit more harsh in Terry's post, no? You get raped, humiliated, and executed.
