On most of the tech stuff yes, there's the "made in ..." somewhere on the label, but quite often the product is nearly anonymous. It says "imported by", but "from where" not too often. "Swiss" cheese, says "imported" - but not the country from which it's imported, and my money is not on Switzerland. Actually, my money is not on that cheese at all.

You must have different labeling requirements in Virginia than we do in Vermont. Practically everything you buy here has either the Country or, in the case of the US, the state on it. Of course, some things, like cars, get a bit problematic.
