I don't think it was a major factor, but I do think it was part of the equation. Based on the questions I see online, an awful lot of people are still stuck on VFP 6.

FWIW, people's failure to spend money is a big reason why there are no new books for VFP. I just got royalty statements from Whil covering about 7 months, and my total income from all my books (those I wrote and those I tech-edited) in that period is under $1000. Hard to justify the time to write a book for those dollars.
