Right off the top of my pointed little head:

Have you looked at the .err file (if it exists)? That might point you in a direction, maybe even the right one.

However, the fact that you can copy everything to a new computer and it compiles just fine makes me lean towards the idea that you might have a sector trying to go bad and one of your files is sitting on it. Especially when you try to create a new project with the same files. To test this, my suggest would be to copy off the files, delete them completely and run some diagnostics on your drive. I would suggest a de-frag, but that would probably only put another file on the 'bad' spot and move your problem around.

After a re-boot, copy your files back out and try rebuilding/recompiling.

  • The problem appears both when compiling an EXE, and when rebuilding the project, whether I select "recompile all files", or not.

  • When creating a new project (of course, I suspected project corruption), and include the same main program, the error also appears.

  • All files in the project directory and subdirectories have attributes "A" or "" (IOW, no read-only files).

  • If we copy the entire project to another computer, it works.

  • Compiling other projects on the same computer, also works.
