Versions des environnements
Hi Vidar.
>>Anyway, I'm about to change my app's install folder to a new root, called "Programs", and get on with life, knowing that my app runs solid again as it did on XP, if it's installed outside of Program Files.

Yes, I will. Doing so opens a huge security hole on your users' systems. The whole reason for making your program folder read-only is to prevent malware from hijacking your EXE or DLLs and doing bad things to their systems as a result.
The correct thing to do is change the location of your application's read-write files to one of the folders the user has read-write access to.
