Hi Alex,

Lots of discussions here about .NET frameworks (e.g., Strataframe, MM, etc.), but haven't come across a thread on what makes for a good application development framework? Not interested in components, but full application frameworks that help with the entire application architecture, and provide services at the UI, business, data layers as well as application-level services (e.g., security, messaging, etc.). So... what would be on the list of requirements for a good .NET framework?

I also came from VFP/ VFE and what was the best part about that framework was the support forum and all the great help. It was widely used as was evident by the number of great folks on the forum. Answers came quickly and easily when needed. Mike and Toni are a small shop, but the support forum made a huge difference. I am using Mere Mortals and I like the framework. Kevin is a very knowledgable guy as well, but I would love to see a higher level of users involved.

My thinking is the framework obviously has to supply your needs and you have to have the code so you can modify and trace as you need, but a good following for support is the biggest issue for me.
YMMV
