I am also taking a trip to Scotland/Ireland this summer. I will be doing 12 days in mid June.
4-5 days in Scotland and 7-8 days in Ireland. I will be with 3 girls in Grad school for architecture so I suspect price will be a big consideration and they will want to see things that appeal to archi nerds. They will have been in Orkney for 3 weeks prior to my arrival and will probally have already explored the north of Scotland.
I will be flying into Edinburg and leaving from Dublin.
In addition to your questions about what to see, where to stay, gun choice, ... I am also interested in best way to get around. Should we rent a car, take trains, bus? It looks like flying from Scotland to Ireland mid week is dirt cheap. Is that a good way to go? I've heard in Ireland a car is the way to go. Is there a good Car hire to use? Is easycar decent? In scotland some of the bus tours sound interesting, are they worth it or should we get a car in Scotland also?

>2. visit Loch Ness (wrestle a monster)
>3. Mull
>4. Ireland (Belfast and Dublin - where else to go?)
>5. Liverpool - stop in to see where JPGR started it all
>6. London
>7. Scotland Yard
>8. Buckingham Palace (see if i can make a guard talk)
>9. Paris via the chunnel
