According to news reports here, Chicago cops generally agree the city's gun control law(s) have not kept guns out of the hands of hoodlums. Nor is there agreement that the ban has reduced gun deaths. The murder rate has gone down in recent years but there have been a number of factors at work.

To me the only way gun control is going to work is if you enact laws that will be a real deterrent to illegal gun possession. Have a gun illegally, go to jail, for instance. Use an illegal gun, go to jail longer.

>I agree. I don't recall the handgun bans in Washington or Chicago saving common people from hoodlums with guns. If we banned all fertilizer sales only looneys would have fertilizer. So why have these bans at all that only affect law-abiding folks and have zero-impact on criminals? It's never made sense to me.

>>I think it's people don't kill people, people who are crazy, and have ammonia nitrate and diesel fuel, and a rental truck kill lots of people!
