I can live with this. What I needed to know is:

1. Once they register on my site, can I have a program running on the server that will read a little text file in their windows directory?

2. Can I then, copy a text file with the same name back to their windows directory if the program running on the server decides this is ok?

I realize that I probably sound pretty dense and like I don't know what I am talking about. That's because I don't. Hopefully, my state of complete ignorance will be subject to change in the near future. Thank you so much for your patience.
