I'd also fully agree with registering a weapon only after someone has passes a set of tests, training session, etc. I am 100% in favor of that. It is a huge responsibility to own a weapon.If you add the requirement for secure storage and the need to pass a Police check, you're describing the sort of process you see in a country with gun control. IOW people agree about many things but get caught up in labels. For completeness, a lot of places don't allow weapons like semi-automatic rifles or bazookas at all, but it's a stretch to assert that you need a bazooka to protect your family. ;-) If people really want bazookas they can join the Territorials/National Guard and get it out of their system. ;-)
