More than one person can have something checked out at the same time anyway ... changes get merged when you check-in, either by allowing an automatic merge or doing it manually. Sometimes it pays to coordinate check-outs with others, depending on what you're both going to be doing to the same file, other times it doesn't matter. You can always lock a check-out too, so that no one else *can* mess with it at the same time.
ummm.. I guess I hadn't really thought about that. It should do a merge I guess. I made lots of assumption didn't I? :-)
