It's almost the same thing. The difference is you use a View (think read/write cursor) and sets up and retains all the links to the back end table. Changes to the view show up immediately in the grid and it's easy to update the original table with TABLEUPDATE().

You asked for a better way. I gave you the method that many people consider the best way.

I was hoping for a solution that would approach my current scenario of inserting into, deleting from or editing a table and then viewing the data through a grid populated by the cursor created in the select statement. Perhaps, something along the lines of the proper use of the "flush in alias' command (which doesn't seem to have any effect in my scenario).
