You can do a replace. That is, after all, how you get a value assigned to a field. Tableupdate simply updates the *actual* table with the values in the buffered table. Can you duplicate this on your development system?

That way, the table is only updated with TABLEUPDATE(), with REVERT() being an option. Then again, I am relatively new to buffering.
