Like "the group of people", "the rolling stones" or "everyone" when I know for sure that "everyone" in deed many people. In Norwegian we only have one word, "er", which translates into "am", "are" or "is" depending on the context. Usually I know what to say, but not always.
After living in America more than half of my life I conclude that the more mistakes you make in the day-to-day speech, the more you sound like native born americans <g>.
