>>Now - if you REALLY want to see some numbers, look at the Apple app store $$$ compared to the Android store.

Yep, Apple has more than double Android's app store revenue. However, Android has 2 advantages going forward: first, sheer quantity of devices. Play Store is expected to double revenue this year to 6.8B and that's typically conservative when it comes to Android predictions. As of June it had already increased 67%. Apple's store grew 15%. These sorts of numbers are familiar and so will be the result. Second, the Android platform makes it easy for carriers to deploy and charge for apps. Research says that carrier micropayments have a much higher completion rate than app store purchases. If you're not being offered paid apps by your carrier, soon you will be. Again, carriers made Android in the early days and can be expected to do it again for Play Store so they can get their share of $6.8B revenue. So IMHO we can expect another sales juggernaut in the Android camp, this time for Play Store.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
