>>I am attempting to install SQL Server 2008 (not R2) Development Edition (that I purchased from MS a couple of years ago) on a new Windows 7 Professional. As soon as the SETUP starts I get the message that "This program has known compatibility issues" When I select to Check for solution online, none is found. What do you think is the matter with SQL Server 2008 Dev (which I run on another Windows 7 Prof)?

>Right click on SETUP.EXE and "Run as administrator".
>Ignore that message.
>You may fail the first time, but you can install the SQL Server.
>After the installation immediately install the latest SP.
I get many options to choose from during the installation. Like the following:
Database Services
SQL Server Replication
Full-Text Search
Analysis Services
Reporting Services
I am checking Yes to the top 3 and No to the bottom 2 (Analysis and Reporting Services). Does it make sense, in general, for a newbie SQL user?
