>FWIW, around here, HS football mostly isn't played on Yom Kippur (or Christmas, of course, since HS football season is long over by then). When Yom Kippur lands Friday night/Saturday, most of the schools around here play Thursday night. This year, apparently, ours played Saturday night after the holiday.

But they do. All the time. And more widely popular events.
You have the Achilles heel of very smart people and don't see that your experience is not everyone's. Your experience is not theirs.
