The greens fees were $75, and that was in early 1980s dollars. He said I will definitely feel the $75 this month but I may never get this opportunity again. (As it turned out, he made partner at Andersen -- at the time he was staff, which his supervisor said sounded like an infection -- so I imagine now he can play anywhere he likes and not feel the sting). Afterwards he said the course kicked my butt but it was worth it.

When I was stationed in Monterey in the middle 70's, a friend at church live at Pebble Beach and invited me as his guest onto the course. At the time, I golfed in the low 80's/high 70's..... I lost 16 balls on 1 hole.... lol....


I shot a 116 when i stopped counting. The hardest course I've ever played in my life. Number 2 was Alicante (European tour course) in Spain in the 80's....
