I've always thought of this set of w*() functions as suspicious and only half useful, because there's no real reference to the window itself, no handle or internal name, you pass the caption (even partial!) as a parameter. With the possibility to change the caption on the fly, this made them unreliable for me. I had a lot of trouble in FPD days with that, as I was trying to use every possible character position on that 80x25 screen, which meant that some info went into window caption... and changed, and then I lost the window, or had to keep track of window names. A mess altogether, which I still remember :).
