By putting security into the DBC it's has certainly the drawback of slower database manipulation commands. VFP justs wants to be the fastest RDBMS, and that's the way i like it. If a want security i look for some other alternatives within VFP (such as using Remote OLE or DCOM).

I do not want to give up some speed in favour of some security given in the DBC.

That's why MS is saying. If you want Security (or OLPT etc..), use SQL-server.
