>"Norcross and Reps. Frank LoBiondo (R-2nd Dist.), Tom MacArthur (R-3rd Dist.) and Chris Smith (R-4th Dist.) urged Defense Secretary James Mattis in a letter earlier this month to include funding for the hangars in the forthcoming budget, which increases defense spending by $54 billion while cutting funding for Medicaid, children's health insurance and food stamps"

>More than 42,000 people are employed at the Joint Base McGuire/Dix.

>That's more than any single employer in New Jersey.
>That's just slightly less than half of the entire population of Hamilton, NJ.
>Their congressional reps have one, and only one, mission... keep that base open and raise its funding.
>Keep it open, period.

>>>Headquarters of the Department of Defense, the Pentagon is one of the world's largest office buildings. It is twice the size of the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, and has three times the floor space of the Empire State Building in New York.

That’s just the beginning. It has been 20 years since I worked in the Pentagon or at least my boss did. Because of lack of space my office was in a leased building in Rosslyn (2nd stop up on the blue line). If you really want to find some government waste just look at government leased property.

>The US spends more on military items than THE REST OF THE WORLD COMBINED and WANTS TO SPEND MORE, with enthusiastic bi-partisan support.

Not to be a stlickler for details but that is absolutely false. Try about 35% of the world total. And you might want to do a little research on some of the items contained in the “Defense Bill” –they have nothing to do with defense but as you pointed out, a hell of a lot to do with congress “bringing home the bacon”. The same thing with the “Farm Bill” – 80% Nutrition (food stamps and lunch programs) and 14% Crop Insurance and Conservation combined.

>With every breath we take, you and I are complicit in the murder of innocent people who have been and are being slaughtered in our names as I type this.

Do you mean like the Syrian government gassing the Kurds.
