>>Advances in technology -- there will be commercial electric airplanes charged by solar powered plants eventually.

Can we wait when Alexandria says the world will end in 12 years unless you ban aircraft and any ocean going vessels that burn bunker oil- meaning all of them? She also proposes a ban on the internal combustion engine so Hawaii is going to be in mighty fine shape... but you can't save the planet without breaking a few eggs. Viva la Revolution!

>>Those "congresspeople" make the laws that govern the country. I'd say they have the ability to effect change more than anyone else.

Not unilaterally. They can endlessly 'oversight' Trump and he can "special investigator" them back, but to achieve anything else they also need super majorities in House AND Senate, or POTUS. Until then, it's yay we won the House. So lets investigate Trump and propose a Green Deal so out of touch with mainstream voters including in places apart from Hawaii, that la revolution may not last very long unless Pelosi can introduce some sense.

>>That and all the things the GOP has done.

Just words. They said Trump's election would provoke a recession. They said his tariffs would provoke a recession. Just about his whole business advisory walked out over that one. Next they'll claim Saddam is reincarnated with WMD in Iraq and the left will be baying for another war and attacking the French for not buying into the narrative, those cowardly curs.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
