No, we are not using TCP/IP. I have tried and I get an error. I think SQL Server has to be setup on the server to handle TCP/IP and I don't have that control.
The stange thing is that a laptop can run real fast connecting to SQL Server and my desktop works slow. If I put the laptop on the wire it is still slow. There must be some network connection on my desktop that is off.
Help!!
>The most notorious problem I know of in when you are using IPX. A client using IPX as a network protocol always seems to run really slow vs. SQL server.

>>We have several machines on Windows 95 and 98 and NT 4.0. On some of the machines the connection speed is several times slower than others. We have switched connections to hubs to make sure the hub is not at fault. We have a feeling that it has something to do with the Windows network setup. Has anyone encountered this?? Any solution?
