I see you're on right now, so I would like to ask for some help at this moment.

I am away from the office with a client who has clobbered 2 dbf files.

I came here from work with the utility called Recover, but I have the
VFP version, and the client is running 2.6.

So, I've been looking all evening for info on the internet about the record counter on the header of the file so I could go in with hexedit if possible,
but I can't find anything about it.

Do you have anything at your fingertips about the difference between files depending on what version you're using?
