>>Ah, yes but are those billions of lines of xBase running at multinationals and banks also? No. Allso those lines of code are running on pc systems wich have a much shorter lifespan than some mini or mainframe computer. I remember a big insurance company where i worked in the beginning of this year. The mainframe application (cobol) was still runnning whilst it was build in the early '70's. I don't see any xBase programs still running from the original Dbase era.

>>Also the same company had about 250 clipper applications running at the beginning of the year. Now only 20 apps still run on clipper, the rest is either history or ported to Delphi. So much for VFP...

>>KR,
Yes? and? I have done some clipper work (three months) at the beginning of the year.Does that say anything about market share? no. There are at this moment a lot of Cobol programmers earning a 6 figure income. Is Cobol a growing market? Hardly...
But let's not argue. I know there is a market for Clipper/FPD consultants. I know there is a market for cobol. And yes, there is a market for VFP too. I only wish for a larger media attention on VFP. It makes life a lot easier woulnd't it?
