Thanks Robert,
Here is answers to each of your suggestions.
>
>Could be that something still has the files open
NO - no one else is on the System during these checks, no other machines running.
>have you tried rebooting between file-creation and CD-ROM writing:
Yes
> have you tried a filecompare (FC under MS-DOS) between the original and the >unzipped?
Yes with /B and without, FC reports no differences.
> Have you downloaded any updates from Adaptec (the site's terrible I know).
Yes, I have the lates W2K version from their site and an open incident with them.
>Have you tried copying the files to a floppy via the O/S
Yes the operating system is happy to copy these files to anywhere I like except to the CD through the Easy CD Adaptec software. I am the Administrator so have checked the Security stuff.
> - come to think of it, have you tried formatting a CD-ROM for access as if it >were a disk and tried copying?
NO - I think that is Direct CD from Adaptec and is not supported on their W2K versions
>Have you switched off any anti-virus software?
YES
> Have you checked your hard-disk for errors?
Yes
> See what Windows thinks is associated with the file extension.
The O/S thinks that SCX and SCT are associated with VFP Forms
