Sorry, I didn't mean to send anyone on a wild goose chase :). The following showed up (as text) in my browser, and "Microsoft Product Support Services" was
a link, so I clicked on it.

Please try the following:
If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Open the Microsoft Product Support Services home page, and then look for links to the information you want.
Click the Back button in your browser to try another link.
Click Support Home to go to Microsoft Product Support Services.

On a 404 error, there is often times is a link to another page on the offending website; from time to time I will click on it to see if it gets me anywhere...

I didn't even notice the graphical menu at the top of the page until just now when I went back to see what you were talking about.
