>Sorry, Renoir ... but it only unconsidered comments that (might) "set me off".

No problem. I saw your subsequent remarks to George and they are much more in line with what I think a professional discussion should be.

>So you're saying that the majority prefers to maintain the status quo ?

Yeah, I think they do. It's kind of like a weighted average; takes alot to get the total to adjust much. Doesn't mean I agree with it.

>Adding a feature like "2-way" is NOT an entirely different foundation. It's simply an "option" that you can choose to use or not.

I think I misunderstood that. In lurking through the posts between you and Craig (and John Peterson?), I got the impression it was proposed to be a replacement for the table foundation used now.

>EVERYBODY who has tried it, likes it. Is that a majority ?

Yep. In that context.

>Or is it still a minority because the majority of VFP programmers have not tried it ?

The real issue is _getting_ them to try it. It may be awesome. I'm going to check it out myself as soon as I get a chance. There are times when I'm very frustrated using the .?CX logic, and times I absolutely feel I couldn't do without it.

>Can I not say that since the majority of the minority that have tried it, liked it, the majority that have not tried it will therefore like it ?

Sure.

>Frankly, I think it's irresponsible (as professionals) to say that the "majority thinks this or that" without having any facts to back it up, and then take oneself off the hook by saying it's "just an opinion". It the final analysis, it winds up being a comment that would have been better left unsaid; sort of like: "the majority thinks the sun will not rise tommorrow ... in my opinion".

IMHO :) I believe that there are times that things get taken quite literally when all that was intended was to make a point. I doubt George had hardcore numbers regarding this issue. I sure don't. But, in order to convey our thoughts to another, people use language that describes the spirit of what they are trying to say, not necessarily the letter.
