DD,

>No.. I think Rush would be a breath of fresh air and would at least get people interested and bring audience - again, what it's all about - RATINGS

If this is true then there can be no possible reason why the network didn't hire Limbaugh. If it's all about ratings and Limbaugh would do a better job of bringing people in, then they would have hired him.

So, either it's not all about ratings or they felt he would not have brought people in. No tellin'.

Personally, I think that Limbaugh would have added more conservative radio talk show listeners who are not big football fans. That's probably about 10 people across the country. Meanwhile, they would have lost football fans in the slightly conservative to liberal range - so that's a lot more. Plus sports bars with customers who are offended by Limbaugh - so that's about all of them.

By the way, this is not an argument about whether or not I agree with Limbaugh. That's a moot point. It's an argument about his impact on the TV watching public in general. You may like him, but that won't bring in 40 million watchers. Personally, I get no thrill from watching guys crack skulls with each other, so I don't care who's calling the game.

I also think that it's an indisputable speculation, that Limbaugh would alienate more viewers than he would draw in.
