>>>Thanks anyway. Since VFP7 has replaced our beloved Setup Wizard and I have little experience with InstallShield, I have no idea what really happened during the installation. I did get a different error message this time: it's looking for mscvr70.dll and I don't see that anywhere including the dev machine where the dll runs fine, or on the microsoft site as a download. Is this supposed to be this difficult or am I lucky this week?

>>Are you sure that file name is right? I've never seen it, but it looks like it should be MSVCRT70.DLL. That would a C++ run-time DLL and there have been MSVCRT40.DLL and MSVCRT20.DLL before.

>In InstallShield, I checked that file, MSVCR70.DLL, to be included in my setup package. Subsequent setups worked fine. File size is between 300-400k, so including it was not a huge bloat. I'm certain it's a C++ library file, but I don't know why it's required.
Bruce,
Try right clicking the file (MSVCR70.DLL) in the Windows Explorer and look at the properties. The version tab should tell you exactly what it is (even though I agree that it sounds like a VC run-time).
I'd also look at the Dependency Walker for the application, just to be sure.
I don't have 7.0 (yet), but I do have beta 1. I'll take a look and see if either of the above tells me anything.
George
