>I wrote a program to pack, & reindex all my data tables in a particular directory. When I try to run this routine at a client site, the program crashes, sometimes fatal exception errors and sometimes it is not responding in the task list. I copied the whole directory structure down to the clients local hard drive, and my program runs fine. Is there any way or software that I can run that will do a diagnostic check of a particular computer and determine if the networking is setup correctly ? maybe a stress test on the nic card to see if it fails ?

If you are getting a Not Responding message, that's not a problem - fox is just packing the table and not giving any feedback. But it is working - be patient. If you are getting fatal errors, that's another problem.
Have you thought about copying the tables/db locally, doing your necessary work, and copying them back up?
Sounds like you have an extremely slow network.
