Thanks for posting this John,
Using VFP with postgresql, is my next project, and getting the connection string working is one of those things which as you found out takes quite a bit of time and research. Since you mention my article, I am sure you understand now that comeing up with the one which works with vfp - mysql was not as simple as it might appear.
