>>The extent to which this goes, to have people want this Reason to the point of suicide for the lack of it, is just showing the absurdity of this way of thinking.<<
Depression is a physical illness that results in lack of motivation and a strong link with suicide.
Depression and similar disorders are caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. How odd that a chemical imbalance causes a motivational state that you say is caused by Religion.
Perhaps the lack of motivation, or "meaning of life", has importance all on its own and we should focus on that rather than assigning blame according to our own opinions.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
