SQL Server is capable of creating a backup device on a network drive, although I've never tried hitting Novell.

The key is that the account that the MSSQLSERVER service used must have permission to access the network share.

When I go to add the file name in Enterprise Manager, the mapped drive doesn't show. Entering the path manually with drive letter or UNC pathing doesn't work either.
