Thanks - I think I have that mess straightened out! One more question - where should I put misc files I want to read and what determines where they are "looked for"? I have a .txt file I read to determine the SQL connection info and I do an fopen/fgets in the dll to read the data. I tried it in numerous directories and finally debugged the code to find that the current directory at the point of the fopen is "c:\winnt\system32". I want it to be in one of my app directories (like "data") but how do I specify this?
